When beginning the game for the first time, you are protected from being attacked by a 7 day protection bubble.
During this time your base cannot be hit by other players but your fleets can.
It is advised to read the forums and follow the base design suggestions, according to your Outpost level.
There are a number of missions to complete during the beginning stages which will grant you bonus ships, resources and experience to make the most of your protection time.
You can remove your protection bubble any time you want by attacking another players' base, but this isn't advised.
